Call to Action
The arts can help us to explore and know what race is. This new understanding prepares us to mourn.
We cannot heal until we mourn. When we mourn we are ready to
add something new to the national conversation about race
use the language of MCRC to talk about ourselves and others
change the way we interact with different race-labeled people
Now we will hold our body and gaze in a new way and speak to each with greater confidence. Our body language, words and gaze will say, “I know what happened to us—I know our nation, our communities and relationships has not recovered from the way we were divided.”
The US has no rituals to mourn this fracturing —no national monuments, no support groups, no memorial services. MCRC offers tools to plan and carry out such rituals.
“Few people seem to know what race is.”
